Merkel, together with Frankonia, has established the Merkel Service Center Frankonia Rottendorf. This service center professionally handles all warranty, service, and repair tasks for Merkel rifles. Through the network of authorized dealers and Frankonia stores, it is ensured that rifles can be received and returned easily and in full compliance with legal requirements. Important: Sending firearms directly to the Suhl factory is not legally permitted!
It is important to understand that a rifle is not a product like any other. The handling of repairs and service must comply with the requirements of the National Firearms Register (NWR). To ensure compliance with these legal provisions, the acceptance, maintenance, repair, documentation, and transfer of firearms are carried out exclusively through authorized dealers, wholesalers, or importers, with complete digital traceability.
No one would consider sending their car to the factory for maintenance or repair. Instead, trained professionals at workshops and authorized service partners handle such work. The same applies to Merkel rifles: your specialist dealer or gunsmith will service and repair your Merkel rifle – because these professionals are qualified and trained to do so.
Direct acceptance at the Suhl factory is not possible: we are not permitted to accept firearms from end customers, thereby avoiding potential legal issues for you. Please note: this also relates to the assessment of your legal reliability under firearms law.

For service cases, please follow these three simple steps:
1. Contact your specialist dealer
Please contact an authorized firearms dealer regarding your request or issue – this also applies to privately acquired second-hand firearms. The service process is handled directly by the dealer or via the Merkel Service Center at Frankonia in Rottendorf.
The technicians and gunsmiths at the Merkel Service Center are trained and qualified to resolve any issues with our rifles. If required, they are in direct technical coordination with our specialists at the factory and have access to all relevant information and documentation for your rifle.
2. Legally compliant acceptance and service handling
Your dealer will accept the firearm in accordance with legal requirements, document it properly, and use their expertise to determine the next steps. If necessary, the firearm will be forwarded to the service center for repair within the framework of existing service partnerships. This is a shipping process that ensures you, as the customer, remain fully compliant with the law.
3. All set: Return to you
Once the repair or service has been completed, the firearm is returned to you in a documented process via your specialist dealer. This ensures that the firearm is fully functional again and safe to use. We wish you continued enjoyment with your Merkel hunting rifle!
